Titre: 1635 Cards pdf
Posté par: Corto le Février 23, 2009, 07:16:07
Hi, for those of you who can't wait to play the 1635 versions nicely printed, here is the pdf for the Saracen cards (4Mb download):
http://www.cortade.net/fichiers/cardsSaracen1635Eng.pdf (http://www.cortade.net/fichiers/cardsSaracen1635Eng.pdf)
Other factions will come little by little.
This is far from perfect but it's only to wait for the official cards.
And if anyone from Asmodee can put this on their own servers, I'll be glad as my site does not have a huge bandwidth, thanks.

Here are the mercenaries

unfortunately, the original pdf does not contain the cards for the latest releases so we'll have to do without those.

And now the westerners

They are all there, I had a few more formatting issues, but it's acceptable.

The Lost also had one model not in the PDF.
The Squamata Spitter.
Just a heads up! :D

I'm looking at the Saracens file at the moment, and there's some wierd effects on the points cost and the title bars for Orders and the like; they're in bright lime green, for some reason.

I know the editing is not perfect, sorry about that.

The problem is that I am not working from the original documents (which are Adobe InDesign docs so even if I had them I could not open them anyway) which means I can only approximate the layout with some copy/paste and text editing. What I learned there is that the fonts embedded in the pdfs are stripped of the letters that are not used in the document, so in some places I had to get quite creative, using capital letters or modifying the translation to not use the letter 'f'... :D

Still, it's only temporary until we can buy the card packs, but if something *really* bothers you, please let me know and I'll see what I can do (no promises, though, I'm not being paid for this, and I'll soon get my Immortals and start painting instead of editing  ;D).

And undeterred by the announcement by Asmodee, here is the final file:

Enjoy!
Next file will be the missing cards.

These are great Corto!

One question. Can you fix Fatina's card? Her order that stops an attack within 8 fathoms is still hard to decipher.

Done and uploaded. Sentences without a verb are indeed a bit hard to read  :)

*bump*

Are you still working on the missing cards Corto?  :)

And how likely will it be to see English Immortals Cards?

Sorry, but I don't have the pdfs for the missing cards, so I can't do them.

I'll pm someone to see if he can make them available for me. So far they have had no problem relasing them, but if they did not make a pdf file yet (they need to create it from the InDesign files which are larger than the actual card for the printing process which prints bigger and cuts) then they may very well not have a lot of time to do it for us.
They are very helpful though, so there is hope.

For the immortal cards, they are reported as 99% translated (and knowing DarthSwen they have been fully translated, the 1% remaining must be in the final layout on the cards).
If Hell Dorado gets rescued, they will come out very soon (I hear that most of the interested parties are international, and it makes sense), but if it is not the case, we'll see...

Sorry, I am having problems with my registrar (I forgot to pay them so they canceled my domain).
I am sorting things out and it will be back up. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Excellent! I was worried about some of the graphical artifacts, but they disappear when printed.

A couple of translation issues:

On the damage tables for weapons, the headings should be "hits" and "damage", not "damages"; in English, Damages is only used to refer to money you win when you sue someone. :)  Also, the Saracen Alchemist's card refers to Dégâts, when it shoud say "Damage". Both of these are mistakes from the original official PDFs, though.

Also, the Immortals cards omit Vae Soli and Vae Victis from the Orders list of Officers, to save space. I'm not sure whether the other cards should be the same, for consistency's sake.

No Andy, I'm pretty sure Immortals don't get vae victis/soli. :P

For now, all officiers have Vae Soli and Vae Victi on their habilities, so these orders are no longer writed on the cards ;-)

Yes, that was my point; the official cards are like that, but the Corto's, currently, are not.

Hi, thanks for the feedback.
I kept the original translation of the damage as I wanted to stick to the official version even when I believed it to be incorrect (as in concentre becoming concentrated instead of focused for example). We will see what happens when the US takes the game over, there will probably be some re-translation by native English speakers and I'm happy to change the cards then until we have properly printed cards in English (at last!!!)
As for the vaes, you are right, I'll remove them at some point. I wish I could get the complete set so I could edit them all at once.
