I would definately recommend raising the amount of time for games.  With table moving, general chatting, drink buying etc cutting into the time it only really leaves 30mins for a game.  While I finished two out of three games on Saturday in time, I did feel that my second game finished much too early on the second turn.

I`d probably recommend 50min games, with an hour between games in order to let people recoop and get drinks in.

If I manage to translate a couple of the missions from that Chronicles of Zeabuggilywuggly document I borrowed off of you would you be up for trying some of them ?

Ok. Thanks for your recommendation…
Agreed but on the ground that last event, some players are still try to familiar the rules but I am aware at this coming event, we have more new players are coming… ;)

1. The time per rounds are to be increase:
2. We definitely have to run at least four to five game.

4 games is possible. 5 i doubt we'd manage. i think as time goes on games will take less time as players are far more familiar with the rules etc, thus time of each missions will drop. in my 3 games we played til turn 4 and it took about an hour. a good lot of that time was clarifying rules and looking up what conquest points we'd won etc.

and looking up what conquest points we'd won etc.

we have more new players are coming… ;)

Two reasons combined to drop the conquest points thing.  Not sour grapes or anything but I`m fairly sure they weren`t done right by everybody.  It was going into round 3 and I was still getting statements like "Can you get these more than once a game?" and "I get one point for every knockdown".

A few nice and simple(ish) scenarios so you have less victory stuff to worry about would be best (IMHO).  Something more along the lines of :

Game 1 : Player who causes the most damage wins.
Game 2 : Player who holds the most ninths wins.
Game 3 : Player with most models within 10cm of scenery wins.

etc etc.  Stuff like that.

Much easier for people to remember how they actually win the game.  My first game I was pulverised heavily but yet still won somehow.  It kinda didn`t feel right.

1. The time per rounds are to be increase:
2. We definitely have to run at least four to five game.

I`d go for four games with an hour per game.  I`m not sure if a split for the top two is needed.  Surely in the fourth game the top table should have the best two players on it anyway.

Afterall, anybody who wants to stay and play can do anyway and four rounds is hovering around my stamina mark.

I have no problem trying different kind of format. ::)
The mission one was done according to the official rules and it was informed to order players in advance.

I guess as long as we agreed a set of format and inform everyone in advance. I see no problem.  :)

are we going to be doing the official rules on this? with all the scenery setting up. If we are, I really think we could be pushed in 45 mins.

There are some translations of the scenarioes floating about, can we use them? they seem simple enough from what I've read.

The terrain rules you're proposing have not been officialy approved by Asmodee. I know it for sure because I am the one who produced this translation and I was still in contact with Geof to released it.

Somebody probably used one copy I sent to an english mate for correction and made it public. It is a mistake understanding Asmodee has strict rules regarding translations and unofficial documents.
By doing this guy didn't respect the will of the different autors.

Even if I appreciate this project is going really slowly I will not accept somebody uses shortcut for your own satisfaction.

Any remarks contact me by MP

Oops.

I`d been led to believe that these terraform rules were "out" and were freely avaliable.  Have now removed.

EDIT :  Ahh ..  I`ve found it.  Here (http://arch01.forum.helldorado.fr/index.php?topic=247.msg2264#msg2264) Geof states that it is OK by Team Asmodee for people to show the terrain rules.

As promised I just called Goef to state what I (we) are allowed to difuse and what has to be approved first.

First of all Geof would like to apologise to didn't answer all your e-mails and request. The actual Demon reinforcement box packaging error (http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/2008/04/28/14144)  has kept him busy for a long time as he has to deal with all the customer requests to replace parts.

His silence doesn't mean he doesn't care about us, English/American players. It is just he can't find the time to sort everything out.

To solve this probleme I proposed myself as a focus point to support him. From now I invite you to directly send me your requests/remarks/questions and I will compile everything before I forward it to him. This way he will have to deal with only one interface which will make his life easier.

Regarding the terrain rules he is happy to make my document public as long I cleary identifiy it as "Unofficial".
He wants it clear because this document is not accurate and will most probably differ from the official terrain rules Asmodee should produce soon. So feel free to use it but keep in mind it will evolute.

Regarding the request from Geof for a proofreading of the recruitment cards I will forward the Word document to all the guys who proposed their services. At the same time I will provide you some basic rules to respect for the corrections. Again, the idea is to make Geof work easiest.

If you have any question or any request feel free to contact me by MP

Best regards

Sebastien, aka Darth-Swen

hello  Darth ,
what about your Unofficial terrain rules. I have been using them. and  it is quite a good translation . And as Geof gave is blessing  ;D

I still have a copy of the document if you need it ...   and to be honest  now  that people are playing  seriously  and  even planing tournament,  it is quite  lame  to organize one and no use one of the best  thing this game  have ... The terrain rules

As I explained my translation of the terrain rules could now be freely used.

follow the link

I share your point of view when you say it is an important part of the game.

Now I am convinced games duration will have to be extended for the English tournaments. Taking the Manchester one as exemple, 50min for a game including "terrain" phase sounds far too short

short indeed ,and a complete missinterpretation of how the game play  if you ask me ...  been able to place terrain that give you a particular advantage  depending wich  hell szona are you playing  is a  so cool part of this game ....

Cheers for sharing

thanks for this mate.

I think if every one studies these, and is up to speed. then, the extra time won't add too much to the game 5 mins maybe. but if every one is stood there reading how it works, reading the descriptions of the scenery, then you could be looking at 20 mins - 30 mins. I've seen how some people read at tournies.

Jackie, if you can get these printed off and left in FB3 for people who don't come on the net so they can have a look, plus they can try them out on tuesday/ wed for me n dog.

Thank you all for contributing towards the ruling on the terrain ruling.

1.   I am happy to resolve the printing issues so long someone get me a copy of everything that need printing… ie the terrain and the rules...
a.   A copy will be available at Fanboy
b.   A copy will be available to each player on the day… 10 mins reading time before the event start. (while I do the parings)
c.   The timing per round will be increased
.
2.   Could I take a Poll here…what players would like to play a. Funeral Rites or b. Terrain with Scenario (as played at the first event)?

The terrain rule look interesting but I do not think we should use them for this tournament.

They seem bitty & will add 10-15 minutes to the game time - which is pushed anyway.

However the killer is that there is not enough appropriate scenery at FB3 to realistically use them ie there are a load of (large) woods & rocks & some fences, hills & buildings but no lava, ice fields other funky stuff.

To make the scenery rules work I believe you would need to ask everyone to bring along about 8-12 points worth of their own terrain.

I would rather have preset up scenery & some sop rule like the player with most scouts gets to choose sides.

I believe Jacky has printed off a load of the terrain items from the main HD website.  Should be enough pieces.

I think most players should add "Make 10pts of scenery" to their things-to-with-for-HD lists.  Choosing terrain can be almost as important as choosing your army.

Dogmeat Thank you

Yes! Copies of Templates will be available at FB3 on the day…so it shouldn’t be a problems…

The duration per round had been extended

30 mins in advance to allow to get familiar with the rules…
or rebuild warband if necessary.

If any players wish to bring some specific terrains for their warband, they are welcome to do so… (so long is within the rules)
