is there any indiaction of who they work for?
I have a westerners main force and out local store has just got a full range in, so which mercenaries can i use?
I'm quite taken with the spooky woman and swordsman guy boxed set.
By definition mercenaries can be enroled by any faction as long you respect army limitations (one and only one officer for exemple)
In your case you may include every mercenary independant or mercenary trouper in your Westeners faction (If you decide to use Rossinante or Don Quichotte you'll play a mercenary faction)
So feel free to buythe extension including Götz and Alazais
Superb.
as a gamer rather than a painter, i'm in this for the minis for now, but this is coming together nicely!
anyone got any advice or infor in the different mercs?
Profils relative to each mercenary are detailed on the recruitment cards (available on the official website http://helldorado.fr/factions/les-mercenaires/index.php)
There is no specific advises to provide you. Depending the way you play your faction, some mercenary will be more interresting than others...but it is a personnal approch.

With a westerners main force, you can use only Don Quichotte or Rosinnante like officers. Both have the "prestige" rule.

Yes but if you do so you play a mercenary faction and not a Westener faction.
And don't forget Don Quichotte can't enrole every westerner (Foi limitation)

Though if you play Rossinante, you can play a Saracen force under him... so you can buy even more models :)
the comand points of the independent mercenaries can only be used to recruit mercenaries troopers .
Quichote can only enroll westeners with Faith 2 or lower
Rosinante can enroll westener and sarracens no faith restriction
Thanks for the help everyone, i'm gonna go with style before purpose and buy the ones that will motivate me to paint!

Awesome. Now I have an excuse to pick up some Mercs. I do like the Golem and Jewish merc, but it just wouldn't feel right using them with my Saracens.
Why not ? they are mercenaries and the sarracens use them

I suppose it's due to the current general relationship between Muslims and Jews, though after a quick historical search it appears relations between the two groups were much better in the past than currently, so it seems a moot point.
I think in the 17th century, the Jews got on better with the Muslims than with the Europeans. On the other hand, the classic golem legend comes from Prague.
Gotz appears to play well with the Westerners - He has Prestige (your officer's faction) which works for everyone and Leader so would let you use his command to recruit westerner troops. In a Westerner build with various Christians, not just Papists (i.e. including the Dinner Lady and Greatsword Soldiers) he would fit right in as he is a Christian (although no cult). So he is immune to the Missionary's first aura but doesn't benefit from the third. The Black Widow may be useful as a second infernalist and I fancy her second spell to punish opponents prone to command burn...(I count myself as such)
On an allied note, has anyone built a mercenary army yet? is it possible without resorting to Westerners & Saracens?
looking forwrd to the Nomads - they look amazing.

metropolis
(first post!)
Quijote oficer
La Voyageuse independent
Gotz independent
isaia & Golem independent
Alazais independent
pietaille damneeX3 troupier with ricochet
8CMD 17 of domination , 191 points 9 model all the existing ones released if I get an extra Damnee it make it 200 sharp and 18 for the domination.
the plan is to use Gotz and Voyageuse to ''smack silly'' the oposition then use the Damnee, and Alazais to inflic more damage and keep Quijote and Golem to protect her and to protect Alazais too ... but they are a lot other combos ...
