Titre: Have you played with terraformation?
Posté par: Tobyn le Mai 07, 2008, 12:56:17 PM
Just wondering seeing as quite a few people seem to be playing now how many of you use the terraformation rules? And if you do, do you think it enhances the game? My group have played with the terraformation rules for a little while and would really recommend it ( although we do have a french speaker) i would also say try the scenarios.

I personally think the terraformation rules are pretty good, and really change the game. I only say this because i've seen a few lists on here that would work if you played terraformation and/or scenarios as there to low on numbers.

Well just thinking out loud, very pleased to see the game growing

If you choose a day then I`ll see about getting the day off of work.  Can do it properly then.   ;D

As a side note, the use of the word wuv means you can no longer class yourself as male.  Please check in your man card at the door.   ;D

Theres a PDF somewhere that Lapiaz printed off with the terrain pieces on it. It is for the Swamp location which is in Spanish but you'd still be able to use it for terrain as its all the right measurements

I keep meaning to get my T-shirt (http://www.pennyarcademerch.com/pat070131.html) but never get around to it.

As a side note, I think its best you don`t come to this next tournament.  With you not being there my dice had a chance.  With you in the same building they do tend to cower in fear.

This (http://archive.gamespy.com/comics/dorktower/archive.asp?nextform=viewcomic&id=1365) and the next few comics seem to sum up my relationship with dice.  Sad eh?

Terraformation is great, after a few games you can't do without it any more (specially now that there are more scouts coming). We are already at the second draft stage of a full English translation, which prompts a question from me: since neither word exists in the English language, would you more say terraforming or terraformation?

Neither personally.  They`re about making something more Earthlike.  I`d just call it the terrain setup phase, but I`m funny like that.

Terrain setup sounds good to me. If everyone happy with it I will ask Geof to validate it as the English term to define this phase and will update my relative unofficial translation.

More generally this type of remark is exactly waht Geof is expecting from you, English speakers.

Currently working on translations, we fully appreciate our English is not perfect and that some expressions doesn't sound appropriate.  All your remarks are most welcome as they help us to create proper documents you may easily use.

Feel free to post your comments into this thread http://arch01.forum.helldorado.fr/index.php?topic=2071.0 .

To be fair, I don`t think Terraformation is too bad.  It keeps it distinctive rather than just being terrain setup.  It is more than just that.

I`d vote to call it "Raising Hell" personally.

Raising Hell is nice, but may be misleading. Terrain setup on the other hand is not very exciting. I'm sure you guys can do better, something in the middle, exciting and descriptive at the same time...

to be honest  terrain placement sound a bit boring ..  terraformation a bit to Sci-fi . the term have nothing to imply that scout are your best  friend  for this phase ...

Hell reconnecince  .  Hellish scouting ..   stuff like that  would sound more apropiate  IMHO

you know you could always call it"terrain setup or how to raise hell" if your looking for a chapter title for the book

if you want to name the phase/process itself how about "terrorformation" - a bit of a play on words

but i'd just as well be happy with calling it "chucking sceneryon the table or floor depending on what you play on,  in a not totally random manner so you can play a rocking game"  ;D

also what are these terraformation rules and where are they - i could be being silly and blind and braindead - but i can't find them for love nor money :)
