Why only one?
Yes I know its in the rules, but what is the 'Logic' to it?
Why can't we field detachments - each under a seperate Commander (yes I know it makes for a bigger game, but its a viable question).
Another option would be to field the second Commander as an Independant, losing the Command points but still paying the full points cost as a premium.
Just some thoughts, as our players are reaching the point with their collections now where we want to field bigger forces - you know, for games that last an entire evening!
Has anyone else had similar thoughts?
the base of a company is 200 points for tournaments and campaings there is an extra detachment of 60 points wich allow you to swap models between games ... those 60 points could be fill with an extra officer...
but the only one officer per company make a lot of sense. As everything is base arround the management of comand points ,having to many (two officers) the whole dinamic of the game is compromise IMHO .
2 officers would seriously unbalance things. its a skirmish game with 8-12 models on average your officer is normally an incredibly influencial model on the table, as lapiaz said the extra command points would put your CMD score into double digits in some cases which would remove the whole point of CMD in the first place as you would have more than enough to use every turn more or less. removing a vital tactical part of the game. the orders most officers use are often very powerful and if two or more could be used per game would just make having regular troopers/independants close to redundant.
if you wanted to play say 400 AP games 2 officers would be fine in my eyes. 1 every 200 points. i think then at a larger scale it wouldnt unbalance things so much.

Thats what I was after, as we have enough models each to do that now!
Mind you, I think each Commander should only be able to issue orders to his 'part' of the list (sort of like Warmachine/Hordes) to keep balance.
well if the thing is to play with all the models you have ,at once, and have a blast do it ...
split your miniatures into 2 or 3 companies respecting the normal composition rules and don't share the comand points or the models between companies meaning that the comand poitn of an officer will be used only on those models under his comand .
to use quijote and rossinante will be tricky as they are only one miniature ... two profiles ... get a proxy horse for Rossinante ... that may help
