First real game yesterday and we couldn't quite make out how Lunge is supposed to work.
Is it for example possible for a unit with Lunge to do a one-sided attack against an enemy 1,5" away?
¶
Am I right in thinking Lunge was the unofficial translation of Reach ?
If so, then it doesn`t let you attack further away. It just increases the range of your control area. A model with a 1" radius now has a 2" radius. What this means in game terms is that a model can`t get past them. When you enter a control area of a model you need to move towards it.
If you had two normal models 4" apart then a model could run through the 2" gap between them. If those models had Reach/Lunge then there would be no gap.
They`re great models to stop your squishy models getting charged. A handful of Reach 2 Doppelsoldners can make a really tough "wall" for your grenadiers to stand behind.
Yes Lunge/reach is what I refer to.
So unit with Lunge must still be base to base to attack?
¶
yes they must be base to base to attack.
Ah, played that wrong then, thanks for the clarification.

Warmachine player, eh ? ;D
You`re not the first and you most certainly won`t be the last.
Yes, guilty as charged - I've been playing WM/H! since Conf went down.
Not very many HD players around (in Sweden).

Thats the problem with same name-different game. Your mind tends to drift off to the other games. The amount of times I`ve rolled more than 5 combat dice because thats how its done in other games astounds me. The Reach issue seems to pop up mainly with WM players too.

The other way around, actually. Reach was the unofficial translation ;)
