Printing Hell Dorado cards

The Hell Dorado cards have been released at http://helldorado.fr/telechargements/index.php so I thought I`d do a quick tutorial on how to print them out easily.

After downloading the set you want and opening them in Adobe you`ll want to goto "File" in the top left and click down on "Print".

You`ll want to leave "All" cards selected, but change the subset to "Odd pages only".  Further down, change "Page Scaling" to "Multiple pages per sheet".  I find setting "Pages per sheet" to 9 gives the best size but feel free to go bigger or smaller.  You`ll want to leave "Page Order" as "Horizontal".

Now, click on OK and you`ll print off several sheets with just the fronts of the cards.

Next up, you`ll want to go back into the print settings.  You want to do the same as above, but this time change the subset to "Even pages only" and the Page Order to "Horizontal Reversed".  This will print the backs of the sheets in a reverse order so they match up with the front sheets.  If you`re unsure about your printer settings then it might be easier to print off the backs and glue them to the front sheets.  Voila!  cards ready to be cut.

If you`re a bit more computer savvy then you`ll realise that you can print the second lot onto the back of the first lot to create one sheet versions.  This is a bit more complex as you need to work out which side of the sheets of paper your printer prints on.  I find marking an X in the top left corner of the sheet as its sat in the printer and then printing a test page will show you if the printer prints on the top of the sheet or the bottom.  Once you know which side of the pile of paper it prints on and which way up it is you can put the front printouts back into the printer to print the reverse ones on.

I found that printing back and front side on different sheets better and merge them with spray glue afterwards. After everything has dried I laminate them. Gives them a professional look and feel.

Never used a spray glue type thing.  I guess the two sheet process would make them a little tougher.

I forgot about laminating.  Mmm.  Wonder if I can find a cheap and easy one to use around here.  It`s either that or cover them in PVA glue.   ;D

I`ve done some sample B&W ones on the bog standard one at work here and they look quite nice.  Wonder if I can find some cardboard around here.

The big advantage of spray glue is that you won't have to worry about uneven coverage of the glue / crinkling etc. If you laminate them there is no need for an extra card board as they feel fairly solid that way already. You can get a decent laminiate machine for 30 Euros and if you share one together with your gaming group the costs are negligible.

Good luck trying to get these to match up bak to back on one piece of paper.  I'll be merging these into side by side, so you can fold them in half and then drop them into a sleeve.

I think it was pretty short sighted to put them together the way they did.

The printer does that for me.   ;D

If you do as above then they should be perfectly aligned.  Assuming your printer is ok.

ive just taken the rulebook, and all the cards to a printer, they made the book for £6.50
and printed all the cards on playing card thickness card for the same in full colour, then just drop them in a sleeve as usual, better job and saves your ink, for the price i dont think you can beat that

Yeah, our printer is slightly off.  When you trim along the edge of one side, you shave off about 1mm or 2 from the oppsoite side.  And I am damn picky.  I could spray the two halves, but it'll be easier to put 'em side by side and fold them.  Either way, I will wait until we have corrected cards.

When I printed out the cards that a fellow forumite did, I printed out the front and back on the same sheet, next to each other. I then cut rhem out and simply folded them round the original French card. Since I keep all my cards in sleeves, the whole thing fits into a sleeve securely. If anything, the extra thickness stops the card shifting in the sleeve.

Now, I just need to photoshop up some English version of the special edition art cards ...

I went to the local university printing shop and printed the cards on thick paper and then put the results to card sleeves along with the original card. I also laminated the templates at the same place.

Of course it helps that the print shop is dead cheap and I get a -10% off their prices due to (still) being a student. The whole thing (saracens, lemurs, laminated templates - one sided) cost me about 10,50 €.
Late at night... I can still hear their screams... the tiny, innocent voices that cry "It was not us! It was not our fault! Why did we have to pay for your misgivings?"
...and I try to quieten them... the voices in my head and convince myself that I was right - and the dice had to be burned
