Hey there,

got my Westerners yesterday and they look great. Found it odd (in a very positive way) that the size is almost equal to the 'GW' figs but good enough Asmodee lessened that "comical style" with oversized heads and hands - which is used in that scale for getting more dramatic results in sculpting. The minis remind me a bit of the old Mithril figs from those older days (which came pre-primed!).

So, bowing towardsa the Asmodee guys, those minis rock

Teapot

Agreed. I don't like Privateer Press and Rackham sculpts precisely because of the exaggerated, cartoony aspect. I much prefer the stuff of companies like Crocodile Games and Thunderbolt Mountain. Glad to see Asmodee head off in the same direction with its sculpts.

Sorry to say, but I'm a big privateer press fan, but I love these minis too.

I really don't notice this "cartoony" style you guys keep talking about, well I can see it in GW, but not PP stuff, I dunno...

Well, yes and no. In my humble opinion the humans from PP are not that bad, but if you think of the anatomy they're using for their beasties (e.g. mouths with teeth so large that the being would starve at some point) or the construction of their robots (just compare the feet to the torso).

To each his own, and it's purely a matter of taste, so no one is wrong or right here. And given the size (28-30mm) a bit of re-interpreting the anatomic built is still good for getting more dramatic poses and different characterization. It's just a personal view of "how much is too much".
