Don Quichotte and Rossinante

Quick question here, as I'm a bit confused on how these two will work. For those who don't have the rule book or don't know, Don Quichotte and Rossinante have separate entries as playable profiles. Can you play Don Quichotte separate from Rossinante and vise versa by only paying the points for the one you've chosen or must you pay for both and play with both? I'd assume you can play separate or together, but just wanted to check.

you can play Don Quichotte on Rossinante for 40 PA, or Rossinante only for 60. Each profile have different stats and abilities

You cannot play them together: they are both officers and you may only play one officer.
